1. Stencils

Using a stencil on your eggs will create a polished look that anyone can be proud of. The best material to use when making a stencil is tape. Electrical tape works really well because you can gently stick the electrical tape onto your egg and it will peel off fairly easily. Scrapbook hole punchers are a great way to easily create stencils. These hole punchers come in a variety of sizes and shapes so your stencil possibilities are unlimited.
Once you’ve created your stencil all you have to do is stick it onto you egg and then either paint or dye the egg using custom dyes. Once you peel off the paint, your pattern will be revealed crisp and clear. You can dye the egg another time or keep the design the white color of the egg shell.
2. White Crayons
White crayons are a fun and unique way of dying eggs. You must use dye for this method of coloring your eggs. Just take a white crayon and draw the pattern you desire onto your egg. Once you have finished , submerge the egg into the dye of your choice and your pattern will be revealed.
This is fun to do with a group of people because you can write secret messages to one another. You can play around with cool eggs and warm eggs to create different effects. When your egg is warm it melts the wax which creates smoother designs.

3. Paint
Using acrylic paints is another fun way to decorate your eggs. Each egg will result in a unique masterpiece. Acrylic paint would work best for this type of decorating because it dries much faster than any other type of medium.
This could also work with using paint brushes and the dye kits, but the dye tends to smear and turn out fairly pale. A combination of both acrylic paint and dye would make very interesting and creative eggs.
4. Decoupage
A very fun idea is to decoupage the eggs. With this technique you can cover your eggs with images of Easter. If you are a religious family, a fun idea would be to cover the eggs with bible verses. If you are unfamiliar with decoupage do not worry, it is a very easy process. All you need is paper, glue, and a paint brush. The first thing you need to do is cut out paper images or verses. They will need to be fairly small so you can put a good deal of images on each egg.
Next you take your paper image and either paint the back of it with glue, or you can paint the glue right on the egg. Next, you place your image on the egg and then paint over this image with more glue. This technique looks the best if you overlap the images. Just let it set overnight to dry and the next morning you will have a fun and creative egg.
5. Monograms
Monograms are very popular right now. Everywhere you look, you can see initials on everything. Why not take this trend and bring it to your Easter egg decorating. You can use a multitude of different media for this type of decorating. You can decoupage, paint, or use the white crayon technique for this. You can also use stickers, stick on jewels, or sequins as well. Once you place your initial, or even all of your initials, on the egg you can add a little more flair with other decorations such as swirls.
Mix it up this year by trying out different egg decorating techniques. There is something for everyone. Whether you are young or young at heart, there is the perfect egg decorating method for you.
